Currently, trade between China and Europe has reached an unprecedented volume and once again converts the Mediterranean into the obligatory passage point for this enormous flow of goods. We are therefore facing a new historic opportunity for our ports to acquire a crucial role in international trade, as a gateway for Chinese and Asian goods to Europe. In this context, the present study is proposed as a first investigation into the possibilities of Spanish ports to attract greater traffic between Asia and Europe, a traffic that to date continues to be dominated by the ports of northern Europe.
