The Department of Economic and Cooperation of Casa Asia has published the conclusions of the II International Congress on Asian Tourism which was held last February in Barcelona. Under the title "The Asian Market: How to turn it into an Opportunity for the Tourism Sector", this congress discussed various aspects about the impact of this new market on the Spanish and European economy.

For two days, industry experts discussed the holiday and business tourism, shopping and sports tourism, as well as industry experiences and destinations. During the coming months it is expected to carry out a tour of presentation of conclusions around several Spanish cities.

Asia does not only represent approximately 60% of the world's population, but both China and India are fastly becoming global powers. In the tourism sector, this growth translates into a huge market where the prevailing target is mainly a young tourist, skilled and resourceful, that prefers the UK, Switzerland, Germany, France and Italy. It's estimated that by 2020 China will generate 100 million tourists and India will involve highly profitable tourism of 50 million people.
