As a result of the coronavirus outbreak originating in China, citizens of this country and activists from several European countries have launched a campaign on social networks to counter racist and xenophobic reactions against the Chinese community in particular and the Asian community in general.

Started in France with the hashtag #JeNeSuisPasUnVirus, it has been echoed in Canada, Italy and the United Kingdom, among other countries, while in Spain it is used as #yonosoyunvirus and #nosoyunvirus. From Casa Asia, we reject any sign of racism and xenophobia and we support any initiative that avoids fueling alarmism, spreading false information and this type of attitude against the community of Chinese origin living in Spain.

Since the World Health Organization (WHO) received the first alert on December 31, and officially declared the international emergency, hundreds of new cases of Coronavirus 2019 (n-CoV) have been detected every day, and despite the fact that The epicenter of the disease has been focused on China, the epidemic has become a global problem. In this sense, it is advisable to follow the advice of the Ministry of Health of the Spanish government and the WHO on this matter. It must be taken into account that the risks are associated with exposure to the virus and, consequently, there is no relationship with personal characteristics or with a particular community.
