With the aim of recognizing the plurilingual and cultural knowledge of students and making them emerge in the classroom and in society, each year we organize different projects, among which we highlight “Poems that bring us closer” and the Plurilingual Poetry Exhibitions of Casa Asia.

Fruit of the exchange of poems between students from various educational centers and services and merchants in the Raval neighborhood through the “Poems that bring us closer” program, organized by the intercultural and inclusive education program of Casa Asia and the Ciutat Vella Diverse Trade program of the Barcelona City Council, we present the results in this video.

This program presents poetry by Asian authors and other origins, recited in the original languages, in schools and institutes; At the same time, it introduces poetry written in Catalan and Spanish to the neighborhood's culturally diverse businesses. Both look for poems that they like and on a first visit to the shops and services, the students read or recite the poems in the original languages and explain the biography of the author and then listen carefully to the poem that the teachers give them. merchants.

After delving into the content of the poems and the biographies in class, the themes they share are sought and personalized posters are designed for each business, bringing together the two exchanged poems that have been given to each business so that they can display them. These poetic encounters, in addition to recognizing the multilingual and diverse cultural knowledge in the Raval, give rise to conversations about the contents of the poems, the different languages, the products and services offered in each business and the migratory experiences of the merchants and students. , facilitating intercultural dialogue, positive interaction in diversity, contributing to creating bonds and social cohesion.
