Casa Asia launches the call for the Awards Casa Asia 2024, whose objective is to recognize and disseminate the work of entities, both public and private, and individuals that have stood out for their work in the economic, social, educational, cultural or development cooperation fields, promoting dignity and human rights in the Asia-Pacific region, and/or contribute or have contributed to promoting knowledge, dialogue and relations between Spain and the Asia-Pacific region.

Four prizes of 2.000 euros will be awarded to the following four categories:

– Business, Innovation and Entrepreneurship: applications that have contributed substantially to the development of trade, investment and innovation relations between Spain and the Asia-Pacific region.

– Education and Science: candidates that stand out for their merits in the field of education and research in Asian countries, as well as meritorious candidates in the field of research and studies on Asia and the Pacific or their respective languages.

- Culture and society: candidatures that present proposals from the artistic field in any of its forms (visual arts, cinema, literature, music) or focused on the socio-political and cultural analysis of the Asian reality.

– Diversity, Inclusion and Sustainable Development: candidatures with an impact in the field of intercultural dialogue, the construction of a diverse and inclusive society, gender equality, or any other area of ​​action related to the 17 objectives of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

This award was established for the first time in 2004. The winners in previous editions have been, among others, Masih Alinejad, an Iranian journalist who fights for women's rights, Margaret Chen, a Chinese businesswoman who promotes rapprochement between China and Spain, Guillermo Gómez Rivera and Nick Deocampo, promoters of Spanish and Filipino culture, LGTBIQ+ activists Saurabh Kirpal and Shinta Ratri, Afghan parliamentarian Fawzia Koofi, sinologist Xulio Ríos, Satori Ediciones, the University of Santo Tomás (Philippines), the philosopher and thinker Raimon Pannikar, the China-Europe International Business School (CEIBS) in Shanghai, the Spanish Department of the University of Foreign Studies in Beijing, the Spanish NGO Coordination Network for Development, the Nagasaki Prefectural Museum of Art , the journalists Rosa Mª Calaf and Miguel Frau Rovira, the Jesuit Father Enrique Figaredo, or the Malaysian NGO “Sisters in Islam”.

The deadline for submitting applications will be December 1, 2023.
