Curso:

This course is a presentation of the Mongol culture and its evolution throughout history. It approaches the topic from a social and historical dimension and from the perspective of the world vision of this nomad village, traditionally devoted to shepherding flocks of sheep around the steppe of Central Asia.

During the course we will go through the cultural adventure of Mongolians from their mythic origins until current Mongolia, facing the challenge of maintaining their own identity within the global world.

Speaker
Miguel Peyró, Doctor in Philology and specialist in Linguistic Anthropology of Mongol villages. Author of several academic publications on Mongolian and Altaic languages of Central Asia, among which we highlight his manual Introducción a la lengua mongol (University of Granada, 2000). He has worked on the Mongolians and their language with different universities, among which the University of Barcelona, Universitat Oberta de Catalunya and universities of Granada, Sevilla, Castilla-La Mancha and Santiago de Compostela stand out. He is teacher of the master's subject East Asian Languages within the programme of the Instituto Superior de Estudios Lingüísticos y Traducción of Sevilla and University of Córdoba, analyst of Mongolia at the Observatorio Hispano-Ruso de Eurasia and collaborator with the magazine Ecos de Asia.
