Lecture: "The construction of shintō and Japanese mythology"

Shintō (神道) or Shintoism is considered the native religion of Japaan, a group of myths, beliefs and rituals based on the worship of “kami” and with a strong connection to nature. At the same time it is what is called “Japanese mythology”.

Nowadays we have access to books and legends, some are old such as Kojiki, as well as festivals and traditions that allow us to get to know about this religious corpus from Japan.

But how was Shintoism created in ancient Japan? How did it manage to become the predominant spiritual doctrine? At this talk, within the framework of the series Though and Religion of Casa Asia, we will discover the construction process of Shintoism and Japanese mythology in the ancient history of Japan and we will offer keys to understand its creation and features.
