Encounter "Intrepid Women: Travellers in Asia"


A journalist for The Times said that «Women begin to be a plague on travels and in explorations they are difficult to fight» when in 1892 Isabel Bird became the first woman member of the Royal Geographic Society of London.

In her work Viajeras de leyenda, Pilar Tejera presents an anthology of 19th century women who share their passion for faraway travels. This compilation of singular experiences is a tribute to the great Victorian women who survived prejudices and turned adventure into their lifestyle.
